CMGG board members have hosted professional development workshops on topics such as resumes, networking, and LinkedIn usage as well as interview prep and professional photoshoots.

One-on-One Mentorship Program

Students are paired one-on-one with a professional in the gaming industry that matches their career interests. Mentees can use their mentors as a resource; they receive advice, support, and an inside perspective on working in games Mentor-mentee pairings are encouraged to meet online once every month during the academic year. CMGG officers support mentees in reaching out to their mentor, monitor the status of pairings, and suggest topics for each call.

Industry Events

Throughout the year, CMGG holds industry events, where panelists can discuss their career journeys and offer their insights to our students. If you’re a university student who wants to learn more about game development, or an industry professional who wants to introduce your craft to interested students—then this is for you!

Spring Summit

CMGG hosts mentors from our Mentorship Program at the end of the year for a marginalized gender empowerment-focused panel and networking event, open to the public. Student attendees listen to mentors speak about their experiences, then split into small groups for round table-style networking.

One-off Events

We’ve hosted other events with industry professionals, ranging from Q&A panels to more casual opportunities to play games with devs. Our past events include CMGG Alumni talks and discipline focused panels like the Marketing in Games event.

Our members have emphasized to us how much they value panelists’ presentations and answers. Many of them go on to become industry professionals themselves and return to CMGG to help guide a new cohort of students!
